Can’t Do It, Alone

Earlier today, I was reading an article on FoxNews.com. It is about the stimulus bill and what it is being proposed by our federal government. I, for one, greatly appreciate my government desire to help so many people who are hurting in this economic crisis. However, I am touched by a simple truth. Our contry’s leaders can’t do it, alone!

While I am glad to see that unemployed are being thought of and some money is to be sent to Social Security recipients and Vets; however it is not good to be solely dependent on the federal government. It is not their place to do everything and guess what? They really can’t do it, alone! They need our help.

The same can be said of the private sector. For me, the private sector is defined as corporate America, small businesses and entrepreneurs. I don’t include the Church, as it is a seperate entity. I know that there are many wonderful businesspeople who’ve stepped up the plate and are helping. However, they can’t do it, alone.  It is wrong to expect the private sector to do everything.

The US government and the private sector need to work together to solve this crisis. Even then, a very needed party must rise up to the challenge. Guess Who? It is the Church. By the Church, I don’t mean a building or a denomination. I am talking about the community of believers who populate thise places of worship. Folks, we are desperately needed in solving the crisis and because of who we are in Christ, we can help.

By ourselves, we would have limited impact; however, our impact is significantly greater when working together for common purposes. Corporate prayers, food pantry, hospital visitation, writing letters, praying at local malls are but some of the ways. I will leave it to God to direct you. Just ask God, “How can I help?” It could be a simple pray for a friend, job coaching, or offer room & board. I can assure you tha God will use you; if you’re willing.

Be not afraid of the storms that seems to surrond you. Know that God is with you and you are not alone! I agree that it is easy to say; however it is nevertheless true. With God’s help, we can change the world around us. This is done through our prayers and our actions.
